What did I sign up for?

Newberry Medal:  The award is given to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. The award has been given since 1922. It was the first children's literary award in the world.

#1 is down.  Wow, it was  hard.  I ended up skimming it.  That was super boring.  It is a non-fiction book that is one mans opinion of all of history of the world.  Starting with evolution and how plants crawled out of the oceans . . . really?  I did look at every page.  I just couldn't read all 6oo something pages.  I can't believe that is was the best book for kids they could find in 1922.  It has been added to up until the 80's.  This book is a thumbs down.  Not my taste.  On to #2.

Ooohhhh....you're brave going in order like that. I'm kind of skipping around and just picking up the ones I see at the library. I'm also cheating and reading a John Grisham right now. I needed a break from that last one I read!!
