On April Fools Day when Annie is 5, she broke her arm.
Here is the story . . .
Amelia and Jason were running errands with me. We picked up Annie from school and still were not finished running around so we went to Arctic Circle. I was just going to go through the drive through but the part of me that wants to be a fun mom was screaming, "just go in and let them play." So in we went. We ate our food and the kids played. Then we got our ice cream cones. Mia was stuggling trying to shove the thing in her mouth and making a big mess of herself. I tried to help her, but she thought I was going to take it from her and on came a gynormous melt down. I told A and J they could slide one more time and it was time to go. I was taking Mia's ice cream and getting her coat on when Jason came over to tell me Annie fell. I ran in to her and helped her up. She wasn't hysterical so I checked her, didn't look like something from a horror movie, so we grabbed our stuff and the screaming baby and left. We got to our bus and she was still crying and couldn't use it, so I called John and said, "we are on our way to instacare. I think Annie broke her arm. (to back up to the main part of my story I seem to have skipped over, she had climbed on the outside of a tube slide and let go to slide down it, only she went off the side instead. I will have to go back to check and take a picture for her scrapbook, but it is like 6 feet or so off the ground.) In the car, Annie was saying that the bumps hurt and that is just what James had said, so I was pretty sure it was broken after that. So we trudged into instcare, screaming 5 year old and baby. They gave her some ice and we sat. She cried the whole time. When we went back and the nurse was doing her vitals, the doctor came over and looked at her arm and said, yep it is broken. Get an x-ray so we can see what we are dealing with. The poor baby had to do the x-ray by herself since I had the other kids. When I said I had to leave but she could see me through the window, she freaked out. That was her worst melt down. Then she just looked over to the side and braced herself. It was so sad. Then we had to wait forever for the Doctor to come back in to the room. John got there right as the dr was explaining that she had a buckle fracture of her tibia and fibia. I wish I had a scanner so I could post a picture of the x-ray. Then they splinted her up and she will have her cast put on next wed. Now her big delema is what color of cast should she get. Tough choice. One of these days I need to figure out how to get pictures off my camera so I could show you her getting her splint. She has been very brave about it all. She just keeps saying, "I wish I held on when I was on the slide." or "I wish I went down the inside of the slide." She stayed home from school today. It has been alright. She will do things and find out it hurts, like jumping out of the bus. She is quite a trooper. Now in 2 years when Jason is 5 and it is April 1st, you better believe he won't be getting out of bed that day. Sorry that my pictures are not how I wanted them. They are out of order, but oh well.
Cassie decided that she wanted attention so she went out to the swingset to break a bone. The funny thing is, I sent Becca out with the camera to get a shot of the crazy girls who wanted 2 broken legs so she could be in a wheel chair. Becca ended up slipping and hurting her arm. She came in mad, "I didn't even want to get hurt and I am the one hurt", silly girl.
James had no reaction because he was trying to hide that he had lost his tooth.

When Preston broke his arm, um, 6? years ago, he had the same sling! I love the pictures of you all on the bed. :) So cute! You're kids are gorgeous! Hope she heals quickly!
This is me stalking you, btw. :P
Poor Annie.
Broken bones are no fun! A real hard way to learn a tough lesson. (I have found that, you don't even have to threaten them to never do it again, because they have no desire to;)! Hopefully she heal quickly! Love the utensil, dinner idea. I need to figure out when I am going to have my family do it:0)!
man what an event at the doctors. The secret to quick ER visits is to have an orthopedic surgeon for a husband. Hope the next appointment goes smoothly and quickly.
